The Group specializes in consumer, consumer technology and corporate communications for clients in a variety of sectors. THE ACTIVATORS John Settino, Principal, The iPR GroupA marketing communications specialist, John has worked in communications for more than 25 years and has spent the last 14 years as owner and principal of The iPR Group.With experience in both the agency and corporate sectors, John has worked on projects involving media relations, event management, social marketing, public affairs, media training, issues management, business-to-business and video production.John's client and corporate experience includes Energizer, Flip Video, Linksys and Valet Home Networking (Cisco), Verbatim Americas, Bed Bath & Beyond, Energizer Canada Inc., Manpower Canada, Sony Ericsson, D-BOX Technologies, Savant Systems, Olympus, Starbucks, The Home Depot, The Tree Canada Foundation, Indian Motorcycle, NHL Anniversaries, Brewers of Ontario, Gillette, Habitat For Humanity and Speedy Muffler.John is a graduate of Humber College's PR program and is a past member of the board for the International Association of Business Communicators' Toronto chapter. A native of Toronto, he is fluent in French and Italian.Suzanne McMeans, Director, The iPR GroupSuzanne is a seasoned PR professional with more than 15 years experience in the agency, corporate and not-for-profit sectors. At The iPR Group, Suzanne is instrumental in the public relations planning and execution for such accounts as Energizer Canada Inc., Bed Bath & Beyond and Manpower Canada. As well, Suzanne oversees the operations management of The iPR Group.Prior to joining The iPR Group, Suzanne held the position of External Communications Manager for Rogers Wireless. Previously, she was Group Manager, Technology Practice for the PR agency, GCI Group where she lead such programs as the full-scale launch of Amazon.ca, awareness campaigns for Hotjobs.ca and Autobytel.ca, and the 40th Anniversary of the Barbie Doll for Mattel Canada.Suzanne holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Huron College, the University of Western Ontario, and a Public Relations Post-Graduate Certificate from Humber College of Applied Arts.Sharlyn Carrington, Consultant, The iPR Group Sharlyn is an energetic, driven and results-oriented communicator with specialties in social media, event management and marketing. Her attention to detail and passion for words have contributed to a wealth of experience that extends across private, public and not-for-profit sectors. Prior to joining The iPR group, Sharlyn held a variety of diverse roles in journalism and marketing including Director of Operations and Features Writer for Ottawa Life Magazine, and Event and Marketing Coordinator for QC Inc. Her daily responsibilities include media relations, account management, all facets of client support and coordination of special events. Sharlyn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Carleton University and an Ontario Graduate Certificate in Public Relations from Humber College.Dena Jackson, Account Co-ordinatorWith a background in theatre, education and travel, Dena is the newest member of The iPR Group joining the company as a recent graduate from from Ryerson University. Her previous experience lies in special events, public speaking and promotions. Prior to joining iPR, Dena spent three years living and travelling across Europe, Australia and Asia and managed to document her travels in an aspiring novel. Fluent in both English and Italian, she is eager to contribute her knowledge and experiences to the team.Dena holds a Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) from Queen’s University and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Public Relations from Ryerson University.Barbara Jesson, President, Jesson & Co.Barbara is a seasoned marketing strategist with experience from both agency and client-side perspectives. She has been a part of senior management committees and headed up communications teams at some leading Canadian companies, among them Four Seasons Hotels, Abitibi-Price, Allied (now Allied Signal) and Labatt Breweries. More recently Barbara has had her own public relations company. Clients have included Canada Lands Company, The Knoll Group, Nienkamper, Air Canada/Air Ontario, Lufthansa, The Swatch Group, Movado Group and others. She has conducted strategic planning programs for many organizations particularly as they relate to communications and branding. By example, she was involved in the rebranding of Enbridge following the energy market opening. A lateral thinker, recognized for her creative ideas and innovative problem solving, Barbara is frequently sought out for challenges that demand unique ‘outside-the-box’ strategies or tactics. She holds an M.A. in History from the University of Waterloo. She was founding Chair of The Quilt Project, a national breast cancer support project based in Stratford, Ontario. She currently sits on the board of Theatre Museum Canada.
